Yinka Odeneye is the son of the late Apostle Dr. Henry Abayomi Odeneye, a builder and pastor who believed in creating environments that let people be their natural selves. He did it for Yoruba worship in the United States, building congregations where language, culture and faith could exist without apology. That same instinct lives in PlugnSessions: a room where musicians and audiences meet as themselves.
His two lives have always run in parallel. He went to college on a double scholarship, one for music, one for football, and after a stint in professional sport he carried both instincts into everything that followed. He has played music for 25 years, trained in the lineage of Fela Kuti under Adeyinka Oshindeinde of Femi Kuti's Positive Force.
His other life has been spent operating at global scale: professional sport, global technology, building across Africa, sitting in with bands from one city to the next. PlugnSessions is where the two lives meet: the musician who knows what has to happen in the room, and the operator who knows how to make it happen, city after city.
Our mission is to spread the gospel of love through music.
